Europe has a whole load of dreamy destinations and so many choices for an amazing honeymoon. From Santorini to Venice, here are some of the very best for the ultimate romantic escape.

1. Santorini, Greece

If there’s one place that’s synonymous with the European honeymoon, it has to be Santorini.

Famed for being one of the most romantic destinations in the world, Santorini is deserving of the first spot on this list!

With its pretty white-washed houses, blue-domed churches and picturesque winding alleys, this island is a picture-perfect setting for a honeymoon. Alongside breathtaking views (and gorgeous sunset spots) you’ll find a host of boutique hotels that are ideal for a loved-up break.

2. Amalfi Coast, Italy

Beautiful Italy has to be on your list if you’re planning a European honeymoon. This is a country that epitomises romance and the Amalfi Coast is no exception.

Positano is the most famous town in the region with its gorgeous pastel buildings that spill to the water’s edge.

Boat trips and coastal hikes are a must if you visit – you’ll be rewarded with unforgettable views. For something less strenuous, you’ll find an abundance of pretty pebble beaches, hidden coves and sparkling waters to enjoy on your stay.

From chic hotels near the Arc de Triomphe to glam rooms overlooking the Eiffel Tower, what could be more perfect?! Spend your days strolling the Champs-Elysées, wandering The Louvre or sipping on coffee at cute cafes.

4. Mallorca, Spain

For beach lovers, Mallorca makes a wonderful European honeymoon. This Balearic island draws visitors from around the world with its captivating scenery, quaint fishing villages and vibrant atmosphere.

Whether you want to lounge on golden sands, go on a hike, or dance the night away, Mallorca has you covered!

If you want extra romance, stay in a boutique hotel or away from the busy resorts. Options like El Vicenç de la Mar and Ten Mallorca are well rated.

5. Hvar, Croatia

Often voted one of the best European honeymoon destinations, Croatia’s Hvar is a beautiful choice for an island break.

Easy to reach from Split, Hvar is known for its swish hotels, beach bars and gorgeous natural scenery – think vineyards, lavender fields and picturesque villages.

One of Europe’s sunniest spots, Hvar island is a must if you want a luxury beach destination. But, if you want more to explore, there’s also plenty to see away from the shore with its history, culture and amazing food scene.

If you’re dreaming of beautiful architecture, rich history and delicious food, Rome could be the perfect European honeymoon.

This city is filled with iconic sites. Marvelling at the Vatican, visiting the Colosseum or wandering the charming streets – Rome has something for everyone.

You won’t be short of things to see and do here. Whether it’s visiting Buda Castle, going to the opera or taking a sunset cruise on the Danube, you’ll have lots of choice for an unforgettable trip.

8. Crete, Greece

As the largest of the Greek islands, Crete is an amazing destination with plenty for you to see and do. Nature lovers will love the varied landscape and hiking trails available – the most famous being the breathtaking Samaria Gorge.

If you want the beach, Crete obviously also delivers. You’ll find many resorts and boutique hotels on the coast, but definitely plan a trip to Balos beach or the pink Elafonissi sands.

If you have time, you could also include a day or overnight trip to Santorini – you’ll find direct ferries from Heraklion.
