Looking for the best honeymoon destinations in February? You’re in the right place! February is one of my favourite months for travel and there are so many varied places you could visit.
From cosy and romantic winter honeymoons to tropical island getaways, this is a month that has it all. Plus, it’s when you can combine Valentine’s into something extra special!
I’ve travelled a lot in February (birthday month = extra vacays 😍). So I’ve compiled my favourite places to help you plan your dream trip. No matter your travel style, budget or interests, I know there’s a February honeymoon here that you’ll love!
Where to honeymoon in February
1 Caribbean

It’s not hard to see why so many couples choose the Caribbean for their honeymoon. It’s a paradise destination filled with lively settings, luxury resorts and some of the world’s best beaches.
Many of the islands in the Caribbean are also easy to reach from both Europe and the US. So if you’re dreaming of a fly-and-flop destination where you can relax in tropical scenery – this could be the February honeymoon for you!
In February, the Caribbean sits in its dry season so you’ll be able to expect lovely winter sun. Daily temperatures reach 29ºC in southern spots like Barbados.

You also have a bunch of great islands to pick from in the Caribbean with options that suit different honeymoon styles and budgets. Some of the most romantic destinations in February are St Lucia, Jamaica, Turks & Caicos and Barbados.

2 Maldives

Like the Caribbean, the Maldives is synonymous with honeymoons. It’s a destination that’s all about island life with white sandy beaches, incredible water activities and bucket list resorts.
It’s one of my favourite choices for an indulgent and relaxing honeymoon. So if you want nothing more than to de-stress after wedding planning, you can’t go wrong with a February honeymoon to the Maldives!

February is also one of the best months to visit the Maldives if you want great weather. It’s one of the country’s driest months so you can expect sunny days with temperatures around 30ºC.
Where to stay: Vakkaru Maldives
3 South Africa

If you want a February destination that’s a bit more adventurous, South Africa is an incredible option. This beautiful country impressed me so much when I visited and it’s a great choice for a bucket list African honeymoon.
It’s summer in South Africa in February so it’s a great time for exploring. This is the month that I visited and you can expect lovely weather on the southern coast with temperatures around 27ºC in Cape Town.
I recommend starting your honeymoon in Cape Town. You can then rent a car for a road trip along the Garden Route, ending in the Eastern Cape for a safari!
Where to stay: Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel
4 Italy

An Italian honeymoon might bring to mind Aperol and gelato on a sunny beach in Positano, but it’s equally romantic for a winter escape. Admittedly, it won’t be the best month for heading to the coast, but I can totally advocate a city break!
Some of Italy’s most romantic cities are Venice, Florence and Rome, which are all year-round destinations. They will feel cooler at this time of year (averages of 8-14ºC in the day) but you’ll also find fewer tourists than the peak summer months.

In particular, I love Venice for a February city break honeymoon. It’s a magical city that still has charm in the colder months. If you’re happy with bigger crowds, you could also catch Venice Carnival if you travel this month – it’s an opportunity for something unique.
Where to stay: Baglioni Hotel Luna
5 Switzerland

I love the idea of a cosy winter honeymoon and Switzerland is a brilliant choice in February. This is a country with the most breathtaking snowy scenery and a big focus on luxury so it’s perfect for a romantic escape!
If you fancy a ski honeymoon, the Swiss Alps make a great destination in Europe. But even if that’s not your thing, I still recommend this region in February. You’ll get a fairytale setting with palace resorts and charming, snow-dusted chalets.
It’s also in Switzerland that you can hop aboard the Bernina Express. This is one of the world’s prettiest train journeys and is a bucket list experience for a winter honeymoon.
Where to stay: Kulm Hotel St. Moritz
6 Brazil

Want a lively, hot weather honeymoon? With summer and carnival season in full swing, Brazil is an amazing choice for a unique honeymoon in February.
With vibrant culture, beaches and beautiful scenery – there’s a lot to love about Brazil. As such a huge country, there are tons of places you could visit, but Rio de Janeiro is my recommendation for a February honeymoon in South America.
It might be a rainier time than the winter months, but you’ll get super hot weather in February (30ºCs+) as well as plenty of sun. It’s perfect for hitting the beaches and making the most of the busy carnival atmosphere.
Where to stay: Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro

Vietnam is a brilliant honeymoon destination for February no matter your travel style or interests. It’s a country that has amazing cities and rich culture as well as dramatic scenery and laid-back beaches.
If you want a big adventure, Vietnam ticks the right boxes – you could travel across the country, taking in key sites like Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hanoi and Halong Bay.
Otherwise, for a more relaxed honeymoon, there are some lovely beach resorts in places like Phu Quoc and Con Dao. In February, Vietnam is also at its driest and it’s especially sunny in the south, so it’s great for enjoying the coast.

8 Iceland

Want a honeymoon backdrop of hot springs, geysers, volcanoes, glaciers, and waterfalls? If you love nature, Iceland offers a one-of-a-kind honeymoon that’s pretty hard to beat!
Despite the shorter daylight hours in February, Iceland remains an absolute must-visit during this time of year. It’s also when the country feels cosy, peaceful and less crowded so it’s a better time for scoring some deals.
Even in winter, you can still enjoy Iceland’s most iconic activities, like soaking in the Blue Lagoon or exploring Thingvellir National Park. With the long, darker nights, it’s also one of the best months for catching the Northern Lights.
Where to stay: Eyja Guldsmeden Hotel
9 Mexico

I’m a huge fan of a Mexican honeymoon and you should be, too! Across the country, there are tons of places you could choose for your trip – and in February you’ll get the best, sunniest weather!
If you want a laid-back beach break, the Caribbean Coast is perfect with temperatures around 28ºC. It’s where you’ll find luxury resorts and beautiful beaches in places like Cancun and Tulum. You could also head to the Pacific Coast where you’ll find Cabo, Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta.
Even though Mexico is brilliant for sun lovers, it’s also good for something different… Cities like Oaxaca are amazing in February and you’ll get a brilliant food scene as well as rich cultural experiences.
Where to stay: One&Only Mandarina
10 Thailand

It’s no secret that I love Thailand – it’s a brilliant Southeast Asia honeymoon destination and ideal if you want somewhere that’s culturally rich, while still being tourist-friendly.
Because it’s dry and sunny in February, I recommend heading to the islands for a honeymoon this month. I’ve visited several Thai islands in February and they offered everything you’d expect from a postcard destination with sunny blue skies.

12 Sri Lanka

If you’re after a February destination that’s perfect for exploring, Sri Lanka might well be it! Even though it’s a relatively small island, this is a tropical paradise that has it all.
It’s a country that packs a punch with its diverse attractions so it’s ideal for every type of honeymooner. You’ll find golden beaches, picturesque rural landscapes, tea plantations, cultural sites and wildlife parks for a safari.
February is also a brilliant time to visit. Chances of rain are low, especially in central Sri Lanka and on the sunny west and south coasts. It’s perfect for outdoor activities, sightseeing and enjoying the beaches.
Where to stay: Cape Weligama
13 New Zealand

Most people don’t need a lot of convincing to go to New Zealand. This bucket list country has so much to offer and is a one-of-a-kind option for your honeymoon.
As February is part of the summer season in New Zealand, it’s the perfect time for taking in the main attractions. However, with a huge number of things to see and experience, this is a February honeymoon destination that you’ll need plenty of time for!
In February, the temperatures vary slightly across the North and South islands, but you can expect it to be mild and perfect for exploring, hiking and sightseeing. If you’re lucky, it can sometimes reach a summery 30ºC in the Bay of Islands, which makes it good for a beach break, too!

The Philippines is a gem of a destination and boasts some of the most unparalleled natural beauty. It’s also a surprisingly affordable honeymoon destination in February!
As a country that’s renowned for its secluded beaches and tropical islands, you’ll want great weather if you visit – and February offers exactly that. Sitting in the middle of its dry season, you can usually expect sunny temperatures around 29ºC.
