Planning your honeymoon for April? If you want to find out the best places to travel this month – I’ve got you!
April is in the shoulder season for a lot of the best honeymoon destinations. It might seem like a bad time to visit, but really it means better prices, fewer crowds and often still great weather. It’s a win for a dream honeymoon!
To help you plan your trip, I’ve put together a list of the very best April honeymoon destinations as well as all the reasons why they’re perfect for this month.
Where to honeymoon in April
1 Maldives
What would a list of the best honeymoons be without mentioning the Maldives? There’s a reason why this is one of the world’s top choices – it’s romantic, luxurious and absolutely gorgeous!
April is the last month of the dry season in the Maldives, which means you can still catch lovely weather. Technically it’s a shoulder month so you might get some showers… but it also means prices can be a little lower.
And even if it does rain – it’s not all bad in the Maldives. If you’re staying in a luxury resort it’s a good opportunity to make the most of the facilities like indulging in the spa, joining a cooking class or relaxing in your beautiful villa.

2 Oman
Oman isn’t a typical honeymoon destination but I love it as an option. If you’re an adventurous couple and want something a bit different this is a great choice.
With a desert climate, Oman is known for its scorching summer temperatures. Luckily, April is before the worst of the heat. Temperatures will be in the low 30ºCs which means you should still be able to make the most of what’s on offer.
Across the country, there’s lots you can experience. You’ll find golden beaches, amazing mountains and gorgeous desert scenery. It’s also a fab choice for culture.
Plus, Oman has some of the dreamiest hotels that are perfect for newlyweds. It’s an incredible choice for a once-in-a-lifetime escape.
Where to stay: Jumeirah Muscat Bay, Alila Jabal Akhdar
3 Caribbean
The Caribbean’s dry season runs from December to April so if you’re honeymooning early in the month, it’s possible to get perfect weather for a paradise escape. You can expect temperatures around 29ºC in most places which makes it ideal for the beach.
There are so many amazing places to honeymoon in the Caribbean with destinations to suit different travel styles and budgets. Some of my favourite Caribbean islands for couples include St Lucia, Barbados and Turks & Caicos.
St Lucia is known for being one of the most romantic places in the Caribbean. You’ll find gorgeous resorts, picture-perfect scenery as well as a choice of great activities. Barbados is ideal if you want lots to see and do, while Turks & Caicos is blessed with some of the world’s best beaches!

4 Quintana Roo (Mexico)
I loved my trip to Mexico and can highly recommend it as a honeymoon destination. You’ll get amazing tropical scenery, luxury resorts and the most incredible food.
In April, you’ll catch the last month of the dry season so it’s a brilliant time to visit the Caribbean coastline. You’ll get lovely hot, sunny weather with low chances of rain.
There’s a fab choice of places to stay in this part of Mexico. Cancun is great if you want something lively, but you should also consider the Riviera Maya, which has gorgeous resorts and villas.
If you want more exploring, you’ll also have the chance for day trips and adventures to places like Tulum and Isla Holbox. (It’s Holbox in the pic above!)

5 Seychelles
The Seychelles is a dream honeymoon destination if you want an island paradise. It’s a country that’s synonymous with newlyweds and has incredible resorts.
The beaches are some of the best in the world and you’ll get good snorkelling and scuba diving, too. It’s also a fab destination for nature lovers and for those wanting to get far, far away from it all!
April is one of the best months to visit the Seychelles so it’s a perfect choice. You can expect lovely sunny weather with temperatures around 30ºC.

6 Hawaii (USA)
If you’re dreaming of Hawaii, April is an amazing time to visit. As it’s the start of the dry season, this is a month with less chance of rain and cooler weather that’s perfect for exploring.
Whether you want to go hiking, sightseeing or relaxing on the beach, it’s all possible in April with weather in the mid 20ºCs. It’s also a fab month for island hopping before the summer crowds arrive.
There are loads of places to stay and visit across the Hawaiian Islands. You’ll also find the dreamiest beachfront resorts and luxury accommodations that are perfect for a honeymoon.

7 Costa Rica
Want beautiful beaches, breathtaking scenery and a good mix of adventure activities and wellness? Costa Rica could well tick the boxes for your dream April honeymoon!
There’s SO much to love about this country and April is a perfect time to visit. This month is the last of the dry season and is one of the hottest of the year. And unless Easter falls in April, it can also be quieter than the preceding months.
La Fortuna and the beaches of Guanacaste are my choice for a honeymoon in Costa Rica. You’ll find luxury hotels as well as amazing rainforest accommodation.

8 Thailand
Thailand is one of my favourite places and it’s an incredible honeymoon destination in April. Like many of the options on this list, April is towards the end of the dry season so it’s still a great time to visit.
Across the country, there are tons of varied places – from the city of Bangkok to rural mountainous regions and beautiful beaches. However, in April the weather in Thailand is extremely hot, so if you struggle with the heat I recommend sticking to the islands!

Islands like Koh Kood and Koh Samui are lovely April honeymoon destinations in Thailand.
Where to stay: Soneva Kiri, Santiburi Koh Samui
9 Bali (Indonesia)
Beautiful scenery, fascinating culture, gorgeous islands and the most romantic resorts – what’s not to love about Indonesia?! Bali in Indonesia is one of the best honeymoon destinations in Southeast Asia and has so much to offer.
It’s an island that’s completely varied with tons of things to see and do. It’s also where you’ll find the dreamiest resorts with floating breakfasts and heavenly spas!
April is a transitional month before the peak dry season in Bali so you can expect better weather than the previous months. However, it does mean that you might see more crowds arriving.

If you want seclusion for your honeymoon, I recommend heading to the northern regions of Bali like Munduk. You could also stay in remote, luxury accommodation where you can relax and get away from it all.

10 Malaysia
With tropical beaches, beautiful highlands and an amazing capital city, Malaysia is a dreamy option for April. It’s also great if you want a multi destination honeymoon that takes in several places. (We combined Kuala Lumpur with Langkawi and Penang).
Like many places on this list, Malaysia is in a transitional season in April. You might get showers, but it shouldn’t ruin your trip. We visited in May (when there’s supposed to be heavier rain) and the weather was never a problem.
You could also choose the eastern parts of Malaysia which can be drier in April. Options like the Perhentian Islands or Sabah in Malaysian Borneo are fab for a honeymoon.

11 Portugal
If you want to honeymoon in Europe, April is a great month for visiting Portugal. You might not get the heat of summer, but it’s an amazing time for exploring and soaking up the beauty.
Lisbon and Porto are romantic cities to visit on a honeymoon. Both are super pretty with so much to experience. Whether it’s strolling the cobblestoned streets of Alfama in Lisbon, visiting nearby Sintra or heading from Porto to the picturesque Douro Valley for wine tasting.
Another of my favourite places for a Portugal honeymoon is Madeira. This island is known as the Hawaii of Europe and is a brilliant place for outdoor activities. It’s incredibly beautiful with beaches, subtropical scenery and wild volcanic landscapes.
It’s also a destination that’s mild year round – you can expect temperatures around 20ºC if you visit in April.

12 Morocco
With fascinating culture, vibrant cities and loads to see and do, Morocco is an amazing idea for an African honeymoon in April.
This month, it’s perfect for experiencing everything on offer. Temperatures and climates vary across the country, but you can usually expect sunny weather in the mid to high 20ºCs in southern places like Marrakech.
If you want to go hiking, temperatures are cooler and ideal for exploring the Atlas Mountains in April. Plus, it’s a great time for visiting the Sahara or heading to the beach in Agadir.

13 Australia
Australia is one of those bucket list places so where could be better for a dream honeymoon? If you’re lucky to have two weeks or more for your trip, Australia will be amazing in April.
This is a month that marks mid autumn, but you’ll still get pleasant temperatures. Places like Melbourne and Sydney are generally mild in April (around 20 / 23ºC) so it’s perfect for sightseeing. You could also explore Adelaide and the Barossa Valley which is beautiful in the fall.
If you’re dreaming of tropical scenery, April is also a great time to visit Queensland. Places like Port Douglas, the Whitsundays and Airlie Beach are amazing for a beach getaway with temperatures in the mid-high 20ºCs.

14 Mauritius
Mauritius is another great tropical honeymoon destination for April. This gorgeous Indian Ocean island is perfect for a beach getaway and has so many beautiful resorts for newlyweds to choose from.
April is towards the end of the summer rainy season in Mauritius. This is a great time to visit when the weather is hot and it’s starting to transition into the drier months.
It’s a fab time for the beach when you can expect temperatures around 29ºC. You’ll also get warm sea temperatures that are perfect for snorkelling! Admittedly, you might get rain showers while you’re there, but this lessens a lot towards the end of the month.

15 Japan
If springtime in Japan is on your bucket list, you have to consider it for your April honeymoon destination. This month is one of the most popular times to visit when you can expect mild weather that’s perfect for adventuring.
Cherry blossom season also falls between March and April so you could be lucky with the most beautiful scenery!
Tokyo, Kyoto and Hakone are some of the best places for a honeymoon in Japan. You’ll be able to take in bright city lights, fascinating cultural sites and gorgeous rural scenery.
If you want tropical beaches, you could also head to the Okinawa islands where you’ll find beautiful sandy beaches and coral reefs. In April, you can expect temperatures around 23-25ºC.

April honeymoon destinations – Wrap up
There are so many places you could choose for your honeymoon in April. Classic options like the Maldives, Seychelles and the Caribbean are all great at this time of year. It’s also brilliant for adventure and exploring in destinations like Costa Rica, Australia and Japan.
Plus, it’s largely a shoulder / transitional month which means there are deals to be found and cheap honeymoon destinations in April, too!
