Trying to figure out where to honeymoon in July? This is a month with so many options so I know it can feel a little overwhelming. Not only is it when Europe is at its peak, but there are tropical destinations that are perfect at this time, too.

To help you narrow down your choices, I’ve compiled the very best honeymoon destinations in July so you have everything in one place. From romantic European breaks to Pacific Ocean islands, here are the best July honeymoon destinations along with why they’re so great this month!

1 Fiji

A view across the sea towards a tiny, white-sand tropical island in the Mamanuca region of Fiji
If you’re dreaming of island life, Fiji is easily one of the best places to go on honeymoon in July

First on the list of July honeymoon destinations is my favourite place – Fiji! This island country is an incredible choice for a honeymoon and it’s so easy to see why. It’s all kinds of perfect with tropical white-sand islands, swaying palms and luxury honeymoon resorts.

Luckily, Fiji is at its best in July. In the middle of the peak, dry season, July is one of the top months to visit this beautiful country. It’s also the month I visited and it was everything I could have dreamed of!

Whether you want to relax at a five-star resort or you want an island-hopping adventure – you’ll have the perfect time in July. Expect sunny weather, gloriously warm turquoise waters and temperatures around 27ºC.

2 French Polynesia

Like Fiji, French Polynesia is one of the best tropical destinations for newlyweds. It’s a destination that’s synonymous with honeymoons and has an amazing choice of luxury resorts.

Bora Bora is the country’s most famous place and is where you’ll find a lot of the best overwater bungalows and five-star resorts. But other spots like Moorea and Tahiti are incredible, too!

In July, French Polynesia falls in its dry season with sunny temperatures in the high 20ºs. It’s the perfect time for making the most of the lagoons, pristine beaches and gorgeous scenery.

3 Greece

Greece is one of the top honeymoon destinations in Europe and is a great choice for a hot July honeymoon.

Granted, this is a month when tourism picks up so it might be a little busy, but there’s a reason why it’s so popular! This is a country that boasts so much with balmy weather, beautiful beaches, incredible scenery and fascinating historical sites.

For a lot of couples, the Cyclades Islands like Santorini or Mykonos are top picks for a honeymoon. However, my recommendation would be to head to some of the quieter islands if you want a more romantic and peaceful escape. Places like Kimolos, Meganisi, Kythira and Kastellorizo are a little less touristy but still heavenly!

Where to stay: Megisti Hotel, Azur Retreat

4 France

A secluded, empty and beautifully rugged bay in France's Crozon-Peninsula

I love France as a honeymoon destination – it’s charming and romantic but also has luxury and glamour. Like the rest of Europe, July is when tourism ramps up in France. But luckily there are so many places to explore across the country, that you’ll be able to find seclusion if that’s what you’re after.

Some of France’s most popular July honeymoon destinations include the French Riviera spots of Nice, Cannes and St Tropez. It’s also around here that you’ll find quintessential Provence with its super pretty villages, rural scenery and gorgeous accommodation.

Admittedly, these places will be busy in July because of the sunshine and warm weather. If that’s a deal breaker for you, the Crozon Peninsula in the north of France is a lovely coastal alternative.

Where to stay: Hotel Crillon le Brave

5 Spain

Spain is one of the best July honeymoon destinations in Europe if you love hot weather!

Spain is one of those countries that has so much to brag about. Whether you explore the mainland with its amazing cities and incredible scenery or you head to one of the islands, it’s guaranteed that you’ll fall in love!

Some of my favourite places for honeymooners in Spain are Andalusia in the south, as well as the Balearic Islands. If you head to Andalusia you can expect the prettiest setting, but be prepared for heat – we visited Seville and Córdoba in August and it was 40ºC – you might get similar in July!

You’ll also find romantic finca accommodation that’s perfect for an idyllic July escape. Or, if you want the beach, there are SO many options. Secluded coves, pretty bays and sweeping golden stretches – they’re all perfect in the July weather.

Where to stay: Marbella Club Hotel, Finca Serena Mallorca, Hotel Casa Palacio Don Ramón

6 United Kingdom

A road running through a quaint, historical village in the Cotswolds in England
The Cotswolds is one of the best places to visit in summer for a honeymoon

Quaint, romantic, charming… these are all things that sum up a honeymoon in the UK. If you’re travelling from abroad, there’s lots to fall in love with, but it’s equally lovely if you’re a Brit wanting a minimoon in July!

If you love nature and rural settings, there’ll be somewhere that fits the bill; from cute coastal spots in Devon and Cornwall to idyllic countryside in the Cotswolds, Lake District and Scottish Highlands. You also have amazing cities in the UK like London and Edinburgh – they have so much to offer and are great for a honeymoon.

The weather in the UK is notoriously temperamental, but July is one of the better bets. If you can, I recommend an early July honeymoon – this is before a lot of the schools break up for summer so it can feel a little quieter.

Where to stay: The Carlton Tower Jumeirah, The Idle Rocks

7 Indonesia

A view across green fields and rice paddies in Bali

Most of Southeast Asia is in its rainy season in July, but Indonesia is the lucky exception. This is great news because it’s a country that has so many gorgeous settings for a tropical honeymoon.

Bali is obviously the popular place to visit. Some might disagree that it’s a good place to honeymoon in July given that it’s so touristy, but Bali has so much to offer.

As well as beautiful scenery and fascinating culture, Bali has some of the best luxury hotels in the region, which are great for avoiding the backpacker crowd. Plus, there are still quieter regions (like Munduk and Lovina) that are lovely for newlyweds.

If you still don’t like the idea of Bali, Indonesia has tons of other islands, too! Nearby Lombok is a great Bali alternative as is Sumba Island, which is quieter and more authentic.

8 South Africa

Dreaming of a safari honeymoon? I can highly recommend adding South Africa to your list. This is one of Africa’s best wildlife destinations and is a brilliant choice for a luxury July honeymoon.

Even though July falls in South Africa’s winter months, this is one of the best times for a safari in Kruger National Park. Unlike summer which sees humidity and rainfall in this part of the country, the winter months are cooler and drier. It also means it’s a better time for game viewing as animals gather around any available water!

Because South Africa is such a good safari destination, you’ll also find luxury accommodation. There are SO many cosy, bucket list lodges that are perfect for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

9 Canada

A calm, turquoise lake in British Columbia Canada surrounded by forest pines and mountains

Canada is known for having some of the world’s most beautiful scenery and July is the perfect time to experience it. This month sees summer ramping up in Canada so you’ll be able to expect longer, sunnier days and better weather for exploring.

My favourite places for a Canadian honeymoon are the romantic western provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. These are regions that are blessed with breathtaking wild scenery and amazing hiking trails.

If you have time for a 2-week honeymoon, you could rent a car and visit some of the key places like Vancouver, Whistler, Banff and Jasper. It’s one of the best places for a summer road trip honeymoon!

Where to stay: Peaks Hotel and Suites, The Rimrock Resort Hotel Banff

10 Italy

As one of the world’s best honeymoon destinations, Italy doesn’t need much explanation! This gorgeous country has so much to fall in love with and is a top contender for a July honeymoon.

Understandably, it’s a busier month in Italy, but there are still reasons to consider visiting. As the country’s hottest month, you can expect glorious days in the high 20ºs which makes it perfect for alfresco dining and enjoying the beaches.

If you’re worried about crowds, earlier in July can be a tiny bit quieter before all the European schools break up for summer. You’ll also find the most romantic rural accommodation across Italy that could be perfect for more seclusion.

11 Croatia

Lots of little boats in a harbour in a colourful village in Dugi Otok in Croatia

Croatia has become one of the most popular places to visit in Europe and is a brilliant choice for a July honeymoon. Across the country, there are so many beautiful places to explore and you can expect sunny weather to go with it!

The most visited place is Dubrovnik which you might want to avoid because of crowds in July. But, there are tons of other places you could visit instead. Some that can feel a little quieter include Dugi Otok and Zlarin.

If you don’t mind the busyness and want more of a party atmosphere, you could also pick Hvar in July. This super pretty island is known for its lively beaches and nightlife as well as luxury hotels.

Where to stay: Villa Nai 3.3, Maslina Resort

12 United States of America

A bridge along a rugged, sunny coastline in Big Sur, California

Summer is a lovely time to head stateside. As such a big place, there’s obviously tons you could explore (which makes it great even if it’s your home country). It truly is a destination for everyone with jaw-dropping mountain scenery, prairies, golden beaches, deserts and cool cities.

I love the idea of a road trip honeymoon and there aren’t many places that do it as well as the US. From the famous Route 66 to cruising the California Coast, it’s an amazing option in July for an iconic honeymoon!

If driving so far isn’t for you or you’d rather stick to one destination, the US also has you covered. Nature spots like Yosemite, Yellowstone, Mount Rainier and Glacier National Park are all amazing in summer. You could also choose a city break – San Diego, Los Angeles and New York City are my favourites for July.

Where to stay: Alila Ventana Big Sur

13 Tanzania

If you’re after an epic wildlife experience for your honeymoon, you can’t go wrong with Tanzania in July. This is one of the best months to visit for a once-in-a-lifetime safari.

Not only does July fall in the cooler, dry season (when it’s best for spotting animals), but it’s also the middle of the Great Wildebeest Migration. It’s in this month that the herds are usually making their way towards the northern Serengeti into Kenya’s Maasai Mara. So if you want to be wowed by nature, this is a good bet!

You could also combine a few of Tanzania’s parks to maximise your honeymoon. Or head to Zanzibar to relax in an Indian Ocean paradise. July is known for having clear, sunny skies and daily temperatures around 29ºC. It’s the perfect time for the beach!

Where to stay: andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas

14 Turkey

A view down onto a secluded sandy beach and bay on the Turkish Riviera
Turkey is one of the best hot honeymoon destinations in July

Turkey’s southern beaches are some of the best – they’re absolutely beautiful and are the perfect place for a relaxing honeymoon in July. Of course, it can be busy (like everywhere in Europe at this time of year), but I don’t think that should stop you considering it.

Places like Alanya, Kaş and Bodrum are fab for a summer honeymoon. In July, you can expect temperatures in the 30ºCs so it’s amazing for sun lovers.

Across the Turkish Riviera, you’ll find breathtaking coastline, beautiful beaches, historical sites and gorgeous hotels – including luxury and adults-only options that can be good for peace and quiet.

Elsewhere in Turkey, Cappadocia is a honeymoon favourite. It’s a super romantic region that can also be good in July – just be prepared for very hot weather.

Where to stay: Cape Bodrum Luxury Hotel & Beach

15 Norway

The pretty village of Flam with traditional houses set in the middle of the mountains in Norway in summer

Norway might not be the first place that comes to mind when you’re planning your honeymoon, but it absolutely needs to be on your list. This country is exceptionally picturesque and if you’re nature lovers, it’ll be your dream destination!

In some places in Norway, the sun doesn’t set in July – so if you’re dreaming of long summer days, this is a brilliant choice. As well as extended daylight hours, July is the perfect month for outdoor pursuits thanks to its better weather. It makes it ideal for a road trip or adventure honeymoon.

Some of the best places to visit in Norway in July include Bergen and its nearby fjords as well as the Lofoten Islands.

Where to stay: Opus 16, Thon Hotel Svolvær

16 Kenya

A zebra in Amboseli National Park in Kenya with a backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro

If you know you want a safari honeymoon, you might be torn between Kenya and Tanzania. These countries share an ecosystem so they can seem similar when it comes to their wildlife offering.

Both are brilliant honeymoon destinations in July as the wildebeest migration passes through Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park into Kenya’s Masai Mara. It’s hard to predict exactly when the herds will be passing through, but they can cross into Kenya in late July so you could be lucky.

Like Tanzania, Kenya has amazing weather for a safari in July as well as a choice of places to visit. As well as the Masai Mara you could consider Amboseli National Park or Lake Nakuru where you might see flamingos! July is also a brilliant time for heading to the coast – places like Diani Beach have lovely weather in July.

Where to stay: Sala’s Camp, The Maji Beach Boutique Hotel

17 Namibia

Several deer on barren sand dunes in the desert in Namibia

Namibia is a country that has a lot to offer and is a fab choice for a unique and adventurous July honeymoon. It’s a destination with spectacular scenery and safaris, so if you want to be wowed, I’m pretty sure you’ll fall in love!

Luckily, July is one of the best months to visit Namibia. It’s when there’s a lower chance of rain with daytime temperatures of around 20-25ºC (although you’ll get cold nights). It’s the perfect time for a safari in Etosha National Park as well as exploring and making the most of your surroundings.

Because it’s a vast destination, ideally you’ll have 2 weeks for your honeymoon to make the most of it all. You’ll find so many bucket list experiences – from visiting towering sand dunes to sleeping in a luxury desert lodge and going on safari in one of Africa’s biggest national parks.

Where to stay: Zannier Hotels Sonop
