A safari is already a bucket list experience, but the wildebeest migration makes it extra special. Not many experiences come close to this so it’s an amazing chance to enjoy something unique together.

If you’re anything like me, you don’t need convincing to go to the Caribbean. There’s a good reason why this region is synonymous with honeymoons – it truly is a paradise!

While August isn’t generally a good time to visit the Caribbean because of hurricanes, Barbados is a lucky exception with a much smaller risk. It might be the rainy season, but this shouldn’t put you off – I visited Barbados in August and rain was never a problem. It’s still tropical, sunny and perfect for those heavenly beach days.

August is also brilliant in Barbados because of Crop Over festival. This is considered one of the best festivals and trust me – it’s so much fun! This is a time when the island is vibrant with so much going on… It’s an amazing time for a honeymoon celebration.

12 Greece

How could Greece not be included on a list of best August honeymoon destinations? Greece comes alive in the summertime and is a staple choice for a European getaway.

Because of the European school holidays, Greece can get busy in August. But, there are still some island gems that will be quieter than the likes of Mykonos or Santorini.

Kimolos is a good option if you want to see the quaint, whitewashed streets that Greece is famous for. Meganisi has a gorgeous coastline and pretty villages bursting with charm, while Kastellorizo is an under-the-radar spot that’s ideal for a relaxed honeymoon.

Not only is it a brilliant destination in August thanks to it being the dry, sunny season. But, it’s often overlooked by travellers visiting Asia, so it’s ideal if you want a more authentic experience.

15 Maldives

Would a list of best honeymoons be complete without mentioning the Maldives? There’s a reason why this country is so popular with newlyweds – it’s a paradise destination that’s everything you could dream of!

It might not technically be the best August honeymoon destination because the peak season is December to April. But, there are still loads of reasons to visit this month!

While you’ll typically experience some tropical rain, there are sunny days in August so you’ll still have time for enjoying the beach. And, given you’ll likely be at a luxury resort, you can make the most of its facilities during a downpour – think spa treatments, cooking classes and downtime relaxing in a dreamy villa.

Because it’s the low season, the Maldives is also a more affordable honeymoon destination in August… It’s definitely a win if you’re travelling on a budget.
