It won’t surprise you that we’re starting the list with Italy. Italy is one of the top honeymoon destinations in Europe for very good reason! 

Venice, Florence, the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Portofino… Italy effortlessly delivers romance, no matter where you go. It’s dreamy, dramatic, delicious and overflowing with gorgeous places for newlyweds. 

For classic romance, Venice is unbeatable (it’s one of our favourite places!!). Think gondola rides at golden hour, lantern-lit dinners overlooking a canal and that magical sense that time has slowed down. 

You could also choose the Amalfi Coast, where pastel villages seem to tumble into the ocean and every winding road leads to another jaw-dropping view.

If you want culture and art, you can’t go wrong with Florence either. For food and wine, Tuscany is heaven! You could spend your honeymoon indulging in vineyard picnics, and taking cooking classes or hot-air balloon rides over the countryside. 

After the most romantic settings in Italy? Lake Como brings old-school glamour with lakeside villas, boat trips and incredible mountain views, while the Dolomites offer unforgettable hikes and truly stunning surroundings. 

You could also consider Cinque Terre’s coastal trails, take in the wonder that is Pompeii or enjoy a Vespa ride through the streets of Rome or Naples. There’s no doubt about it – Italy is perfect honeymoon territory!

The Cyclades Islands are a top choice for a lot of honeymooners – it’s one of the best places in the world for a honeymoon! Santorini looks like a real-life postcard, with its white cliffside homes, sunset viewing spots and beautiful beach coves.

If you’re looking for lively nights and lazy beach days, you’ll love Mykonos, or for something more peaceful, you could consider Milos and Paros, which have hidden coves, volcanic landscapes and a slower pace.

Switzerland has SO much to offer and is near perfect for those who love dramatic scenery, outdoor adventures and a touch of luxury.

It’s a destination with a bit of everything and has breathtaking mountains, glistening lakes, picture-perfect cities (Bern is a personal favourite) and world-class resorts.

For stunning mountain scenery and classic romance, Zermatt is hard to beat. If you honeymoon here, you’ll be able to admire the Matterhorn, ski or hike its slopes, and retreat to cosy chalets with roaring fireplaces. 

Lucerne and Interlaken offer so much lakeside charm, scenic boat rides and easy access to alpine trails, making them ideal for couples who want adventure, without sacrificing comfort. 

St. Moritz, Zurich and Lake Geneva are perfect for a more sophisticated, high-end experience. Think luxury hotels, gourmet dining and opportunities for pampering. You could even soak in thermal baths in the mountains in Leukerbad!

Lisbon will be perfect for your honeymoon if you love vibrant city life. You’ll be able to wander through colourful streets, explore historic neighbourhoods like Alfama and enjoy rooftop cocktails with panoramic views. 

Porto, with its charming riverside and world-famous wine cellars offers a more intimate, romantic vibe. You could also pick the Algarve for coastal luxury – it has golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, secluded coves and the most stylish resorts!

Portugal’s islands add another dimension altogether. We’re obsessed with Madeira – it’s lush and green, offering scenic hiking trails and gorgeous beaches, while the Azores are a paradise for adventurous couples who want whale watching, crater lakes, volcanic landscapes and hot springs.

This island comes complete with glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, black-sand beaches and steaming hot geysers… It’s the ultimate eco honeymoon destination and an amazing place for couples seeking breathtaking scenery and otherworldly experiences!

Reykjavík is a vibrant base with plenty of cosy cafes, high-end restaurants and charming streets to explore.

If you choose to honeymoon here, I recommend hiring a car or booking an organised tour to take in The Golden Circle. The three iconic Icelandic locations are Thingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfall.

For an even more adventurous honeymoon in Iceland, you could hike across glaciers, snorkel between tectonic plates, or soak in geothermal pools surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

The south coast offers black-sand beaches, countless waterfalls and incredible volcanic landscapes, while the west and north are all about fjords and lava fields.

Luxury and comfort are never far away in Iceland either. You’ll find boutique countryside hotels, private hot tubs under the Northern Lights, as well as beautiful lodges with panoramic views.

Nestled on the Adriatic coast and framed by rugged mountains, this small Balkan gem blends sparkling beaches with medieval towns and jaw-dropping natural landscapes.

Kotor is my highlight for a honeymoon. It has a fjord-like bay, charming old town, cobblestone streets and romantic waterfront cafés. Budva is also an amazing choice that combines lively nightlife, gorgeous beaches and boutique hotels.

If you love nature, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Durmitor National Park while you’re in Montenegro. It’s perfect for hiking, rafting, or simply soaking in pristine alpine lakes.

Montenegro also offers the perfect balance of honeymoon adventure and indulgence. You could spend your days kayaking through hidden coves, sailing along the Adriatic, hiking mountain trails with panoramic views, or exploring historic fortresses and charming villages. 

You’ll also find luxurious boutique hotels and seaside resorts that provide the perfect escape, with private terraces, infinity pools and gourmet dining. This is a real hidden gem, so go before everyone else realises!

Paris is a classic honeymoon option in Europe. It offers world-class dining, charming cafes, iconic landmarks and romantic strolls along the Seine… if you love a city break, you can’t go wrong with Paris.

BUT, if you’re more of a wine or countryside lover like us, France has so much to offer!  Bordeaux and Burgundy boast rolling vineyards, elegant chateaus and gourmet experiences. 

Provence is all about lavender fields, olive groves and quaint villages, and the French Riviera (Nice, Cannes, Saint-Tropez) delivers sun-soaked beaches, glamorous resorts and a vibrant romantic atmosphere.

France also offers adventure if you want to mix a little thrill with luxury. You could hike in the Alps or Pyrenees, go skiing or snowboarding, or enjoy coastal walks along the Mediterranean coast.

If you’re after nature and adventure instead, Swedish Lapland is unmatched! Choose this as your European honeymoon destination and you could witness the Northern Lights from a glass igloo, go dog-sledding or snowmobiling and enjoy the pristine wilderness in complete privacy. 

The lakes and forests of Småland or Dalarna are ideal for hiking, canoeing and cosying up in luxury cabins, too. It doesn’t get much better than this!!

Dubrovnik might be busy but it’s still one of our favourites. With medieval city walls, cobblestone streets and vibrant squares, it’s endlessly romantic.

Honeymoons in Dubrovnik are all about sunset walks along the ramparts, exploring nearby islands by boat, and enjoying fine dining overlooking the sea. 

If you want glamorous beach clubs, crystal-clear waters and luxury resorts, Hvar is a brilliant choice. Or you could choose Split, which combines ancient Roman architecture with lively markets and a buzzing coastal vibe.

If, like us, you love nature, Plitvice Lakes National Park will be one of your favourite places in Croatia. It has turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls and scenic walking trails. 

Likewise, Korčula and the Dalmatian islands are perfect for the outdoors – kayaking, snorkelling, or simply enjoying quiet beachside moments together. You could even sail around the Adriatic on a private yacht, with your own personal chef!

If you want a classic city honeymoon, London is an amazing choice with iconic landmarks, world-class dining and romantic river cruises along the Thames. 

For a quieter, storybook vibe, the Cotswolds are so romantic with rolling hills, charming cottages and cosy boutique lodges. Then there’s Cornwall, which has beautiful beaches and charming coastal towns.

Scotland is perfect for adventure and scenery with the Highlands, Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye providing epic hiking, castles and intimate luxury lodges. Plus, nothing is more romantic than the historic streets of Edinburgh!

Not sure which of these places to visit? The good news is, the entire UK is easy to explore by train or car, while Ireland is just a short flight away. If you have time for a longer trip, it’s the perfect place for a romantic road honeymoon trip!

Istanbul is a dream for couples who love culture and history. Not only is it a stunning city, but it is full of fantastic things to see and do. You could wander through bustling bazaars, admire the grandeur of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, cruise along the Bosphorus at sunset and enjoy intimate rooftop dinners overlooking the city. 

For a truly unique experience, I highly recommend Cappadocia for a romantic honeymoon. You could stay in a luxury cave hotel and float up high in a hot-air balloon over the most magical scenery.

Turkey’s turquoise coast is perfect for sun, sea and R&R, too. Resorts in Bodrum, Antalya or Fethiye offer private beaches, infinity pools and fine dining, while adventurous couples can enjoy sailing, snorkelling, or cove swimming along the Mediterranean.

Spain is a fantastic honeymoon destination in Europe for couples seeking a mix of culture, beaches, vibrant cities and luxurious experiences. 

Barcelona is perfect for a lively, romantic city break, with its quirky architecture, bustling markets and candlelit tapas bars. Madrid offers grand boulevards, world-class art museums and chic boutique hotels, while Seville is a fab choice for flamenco, historic palaces and fragrant streets lined with orange trees. 

If you’d prefer to spend your honeymoon on the coast, the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca) have turquoise waters, hidden coves and gorgeous resorts. It’s one of the most popular (and most beautiful!) regions in Europe so it’s no wonder it’s perfect for honeymooners.

If you love nature and adventure, you could also consider Andalusia for hiking in the Sierra Nevada, exploring whitewashed villages and discovering dramatic landscapes like Ronda’s gorge. Wine and food lovers could also enjoy vineyard tours in La Rioja and tapas trails across the country!

Have you been sitting on Poland as a travel destination? Now’s the time to rethink, because this is one of the most unique honeymoon spots in Europe! 

Krakow is the jewel in Poland’s crown and is a popular choice with European travellers. Its cobblestone streets, elegant squares and centuries-old architecture are instantly romantic so it’s one of my favourite choices for a honeymoon. It also has boutique hotels and gourmet restaurants, which make it easy to indulge in luxury. 

For a coastal escape, the Baltic Sea coast, including Gdańsk, Sopot and Hel, provides golden beaches, chic resorts and peaceful seaside walks.

But if you love the outdoors, my recommendation is the High Tatras (Tatry) and Zakopane – they’re breathtaking! Here, you can hike alpine trails, explore pine forests, ski in winter, or take a romantic cable car ride to panoramic viewpoints. 

You’ll also find luxury mountain lodges and boutique retreats that will give you the cosiest romantic evenings with spectacular scenery.

14 Malta

If you’re searching for a truly unique honeymoon in Europe, we’ve got you! The Faroe Islands are a perfect curveball if you want something truly extraordinary. 

Rugged, remote and breathtakingly beautiful, this North Atlantic archipelago is part of Denmark and is nestled between Iceland and Norway. It’s overflowing with dramatic cliffs, sweeping fjords and waterfalls that plunge into the sea. Otherworldly springs to mind!

You’ll be able to hike along cliffside trails with panoramic ocean views, explore quaint villages with colourful houses, or take a private boat trip through hidden fjords. 

Nature lovers will be able to spot puffins, eagles and other wildlife. Even in winter, the dramatic skies and soft light make for a magical, intimate atmosphere that’s perfect for a honeymoon!

Luxury is intimate and understated in the Faroe Islands, much like the islands’ natural charm! You could stay in a boutique hotel, a renovated farmhouse or a design-led lodge with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. 

Just imagine cosy evenings by a fireplace, gourmet meals made from local ingredients and private terraces where you can watch the Northern Lights.. It sounds perfect to us!
