17 Best Honeymoon Destinations for Foodies (2026 Insider Guide)

Having spent years wandering the world with a fork in one hand and Google Maps in the other, I feel qualified to give you the low-down on the best honeymoon destinations for foodies!

From the bustling markets of Bangkok to the sun-drenched vineyards of Tuscany, I’ve tasted my way through cities, islands and remote corners that feel like they were made for unforgettable meals.

When I started this feature, I immediately became a bit giddy and I really had to rein myself in! So, after some careful consideration, here is my very personal list of favourite foodie destinations for couples who want more than just a pretty backdrop.

Think candlelit dinners in Paris, rooftop cocktails over Tokyo, fresh seafood on the Amalfi Coast, or street-side tacos in Mexico City.

Every place on this list combines romance, adventure and the kind of cuisine that will make you linger over a meal. So, if you’re looking for foodie honeymoon destinations, these are the very best options on the planet (in my humble opinion)!

1 Bali, Indonesia

An ornate and traditional Balinese temple and gate in Ubud, surrounded by greenery

When you think about a honeymoon to Bali, you probably picture golden beaches, gorgeous rice terraces and designer villas with jaw-dropping views. But few people see Bali as one of the world’s best honeymoon destinations for foodies.

In Bali, every meal smacks you with flavour. The island’s culinary scene blends rich Indonesian heritage with world-class creativity, offering everything from vibrant street food to refined fine dining.

There are so many authentic local flavours – think sizzling satay, fragrant nasi goreng and slow-cooked babi guling served in relaxed warungs or bustling night markets.

But, if you want to elevate your experience, Bali has a thriving collection of contemporary restaurants, too, where globally trained chefs reimagine Indonesian ingredients through innovative tasting menus.

Bali also excels in immersive dining, like candlelit dinners overlooking jungle valleys in Ubud, beachfront seafood feasts at sunset in Jimbaran, and private villa chefs crafting bespoke menus just for you.

Many high-end resorts also offer curated culinary journeys, from farm-to-table experiences to guided market tours followed by hands-on cooking classes.

So whether you’re dreaming of street food or multi-course tasting menus, Bali is a destination that has to be on your list!

Tuscany is one of the best honeymoon destinations in Europe and is the honeymoon fantasy for couples who plan their days around what they’re eating next!

Just imagine – lazy mornings in Florence with cappuccinos and flaky pastries, followed by scenic drives through Chianti, where rolling vineyards seem designed purely for romantic detours 😍

Wine lovers are absolutely spoiled in Tuscany. You can sip bold reds straight from the cellar in Montalcino, or enjoy elegant tastings around Montepulciano, often paired with pecorino, truffle honey and views that make you forget your phone exists.

Many estates offer private tastings and vineyard picnics, which are perfect for honeymooners wanting something intimate and indulgent.

In the golden hills of Val d’Orcia, agriturismos serve freshly pressed oils so vibrant you’ll start judging every drizzle back home. You can expect long, rustic lunches that stretch into the afternoon: handmade pici pasta, grilled bistecca alla Fiorentina and local wines poured generously.

In Tuscany, evenings feel straight out of a movie. You’ll be able to wander cobbled streets in Siena or watch the sunset over medieval towers in San Gimignano, before settling into a candlelit farm-to-table dinner under fairylights.

I visited South Korea several years ago and I still think about some of the amazing meals I had there. The country is beautiful, diverse and just as incredible as its neighbours when it comes to food.

Seoul is the heart of South Korea and it’s a city where the energy of street markets like Gwangjang and Myeongdong fill the air with aromas of tteokbokki, hotteok and freshly grilled seafood.

Sharing these vibrant bites while wandering neon-lit streets is a playful, intimate experience that’s perfect for loved-up couples.

17 Greece

A quaint, white-washed harbour with boats in Paros, Greece

Greek food is known for being delicious, which is why it’s impossible to pick just one place in Greece as the ultimate foodie honeymoon spot. Each region of the country has something new to offer and no matter where you pick, your stomach will be happy.

If you want a city escape, Athens is the perfect place for a honeymoon filled with food, history and vibrancy. You’ll be able to wander Varvakios Agora, the central market, where fresh seafood, olives, cheeses and local produce will tempt your taste buds at every turn.

Nearby, the charming streets of Plaka and Monastiraki are filled with cosy tavernas serving classic Greek dishes – grilled octopus, moussaka and honey-drenched loukoumades.

For a more refined experience, you’ll also find Michelin-starred gems like Funky Gourmet and Spondi, which elevate traditional flavours into unforgettable tasting menus.

Over on the islands, romance meets rustic charm. Santorini offers cliffside restaurants, with fresh seafood, cherry tomatoes and fava, plus family-run wineries producing crisp Assyrtiko wines.

Crete is a favourite for farm-to-table feasts of local cheeses, olive oils, honey and raki. You’ll also find cooking classes where you can learn authentic recipes together – it’s a fun honeymoon experience.

Naxos and Paros are all about grilled meats, fresh seafood and tasting award-winning cheeses and olive oils.

And finally, Thessaloniki.. It’s often described as the culinary capital of Greece and blends street food adventures (bougatsa pastries, gyros, meze) with stylish wine and cocktail bars. It’s the perfect destination if you love your food!

How to choose the perfect foodie honeymoon destination

While these destinations are standouts for me personally, there are plenty of other incredible foodie honeymoon spots worth considering.

Off the top of my head, Iceland surprised me with its creative, hyper-local cuisine (think fresh seafood and innovative Nordic tasting menus).

Portugal blends coastal charm with indulgent flavours; from pastel de nata and specialty coffee in Lisbon, to wine bars and seafood feasts in Porto and Madeira.

You should also keep Lima on your radar. Although I’ve never personally visited, it’s widely considered one of the culinary capitals of the world, thanks to its vibrant mix of Peruvian, Japanese and Spanish influences, plus globally acclaimed fine dining.

Finally, some of the best food I’ve ever had while away was only a few hours from my home. Edinburgh offers whisky tastings and seasonal Scottish produce, as well as elegant restaurants showcasing modern interpretations of classic dishes.

Together, these destinations prove that unforgettable foodie honeymoons can be found in every corner of the globe. So, how can you possibly pick just one spot?

Choosing the best food honeymoon destinations starts with thinking about the experiences you both love. Do you crave casual street eats or Michelin-starred indulgence? Adventure and variety, or slow, romantic meals by the sea?

Consider the local specialties: fresh seafood, wine, chocolate, coffee, or spices, and whether you want hands-on experiences like cooking classes or vineyard tours. Then, factor in pace, scenery and intimacy: cobblestone streets, beachside views, or bustling city markets.

Most importantly, pick a place that excites both your palates and your sense of adventure. Wherever you go, every bite will become part of your love story.

Bon Appétit!

Save for later!
